The Stars of Britain’s Got Talent: Susan Boyle and Shaheen Jafargholi

Posted by Patrick Watson on April 20, 2009 at 7:45 pm3 Comments

The big news going around these days is about Susan Boyle, a 47 year old unmarried frumpy-looking woman with an unfulfilled dream, an offbeat charm and a powerful voice.

It was classic Venus retrograde. She does not fit the pre-processed pop princess formula, everyone laughed at her at first. But as she sang “I Dreamed a Dream”, these preconceptions of what a singer had to be, these false ideas of beauty were challenged by Venus, and talent won out.

Venus is all about our values, and so it pertains to art, music, our idea of beauty, as well as social/cultural relationships, what we hold dear. When Venus goes retrograde, these can all be challenged. Venus recently stationed direct in Pisces after having gone retrograde in Aries.

Kind of interesting then, according to this source for her birth data that Susan Boyle was not only born during a Venus retrograde period, but she was even born during a Venus retrograde in Aries, the same part of Venus’ cycle that just ended!

To the right, you can see her natal retrograde Venus in the inner wheel in red, and on the outer wheel, the transiting Venus retrograde in red. In blue, you can see her natal Jupiter-Neptune square in the inner wheel, and on the outer wheel, the transiting Jupiter-Neptune conjunction.

It was not simply an unexpectedly good audition. She received international attention, and is becoming a cultural touchstone on issues of society’s various prejudices concerning beauty, women, older women in the performing arts, etc. Typical Venus retrograde. She is widely considered to be the favorite to win the whole competition, and once we have a truly reliable and legitimate source for her birthtime, we could look further into that!

The Competition?

Susan may have competition though! 12 year old Shaheen Jafargholi gave a truly impressive performance of Jackson 5’s “Who’s Loving You”. We do not even have his birthdate yet, however I was able to narrow it down.

My name is Shaheen Jafargholi, I turned 12 just last week, I live in Swansea with my mum and my cat, and I’m going to be singing today.
-Shaheen Jafargholi

Piers Morgan says “Wales has got talent” in his remarks after Shaheen’s audition, and Swansea is in Wales. According to the Britain’s Got Talent website, the auditions in Wales were held in Cardiff over February 2-3, 2009. If Shaheen had just turned 12 the week before, he was born somewhere between January 26th to February 1st, 1997.

Without even an accurate birthdate it is obviously impossible to look at this very in-depth, but it is very interesting that Jupiter and Neptune are currently transiting together in the sky, and Shaheen was born barely two weeks after a Jupiter-Neptune conjunction. Shaheen apparently started singing at age 5, and it just so happens that Jupiter and Neptune did perfect an opposition in the sky while he was 5 years old.

Anyone notice both Susan and Shaheen have Jupiter in early Aquarius?

One thing’s for sure: Venus Rx + Jupiter/Neptune = Good Reality TV

Good luck Susan and Shaheen!

This is very astute. Recurrernce patterns are among the great ignored factors in astrology (though by no means the only). And of course it is plausible that Venus has to do with the arts, ideas about beauty, and even cultural systems generally; so it would be interesting to look further into the charts of artists who have upset our notions about these things, and perhaps more so to study the charts of philosophers who have written on aesthetics. Is it really typical Venus retrograde to be a cultural touchstone? I would be the first to applaud a study on Venus and aesthetic standards (but then I would with my direct Venus culminating in Pisces).

Hmm… Baudelaire, who was a critic of all arts as well as a poet, and certainly a cultural touchstone, had Venus in Aries but his was fast forward. Theodor Adorno’s Venus was retrograde but it was in Virgo. Haven’t time to look up others but it is a fascinating issue.

Okay, on re-reading I see you don’t mean that people with certains Venus conditions are consciously out to be cultural touchstones. But I still believe it should be different in the case of aesthetic philosophers and art critics.

Shaheen was born in January 27th, 1997 according to the wiki website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaheen_Jafargholi

Is there any way to find his hour of birth?.. would be interesting to see who will be the winner..
