Boy George Sentenced to Jail, 12th House Profection
Today, Boy George was sentenced to 15 months in jail for falsely imprisoning a male prostitute. Boy George is 47 years old, which puts him in a 12th house-Aries profection year. This means that the transits of Mars and issues of the 12th house would be at the forefront of the year. The 12th house pertains to imprisonment and self-undoing in a chart, and Mars rules a whole lot of trouble just by itself.
Whaddya know. I should note that profections do not render other transits irrelevant. Boy George was born just 14 and a half hours before Mercury stationed retrograde, and so the Mercury cycles, as well as any other major chart configurations will always be imprinted on the major happenings of his life.

The Incident
Boy George[1] is going to jail because of the incident that occurred on April 28th, 2007. This was the day that Mars conjoined Uranus in the sky, a recurrence of Boy George’s natal Mars-Uranus conjunction. You can see both his natal Mars-Uranus 
conjunction and the transiting Mars-Uranus conjunction outlined in red in the chart to the right.
He was arrested 2 days later. Mars-Uranus isn’t a bad description of what happened. He met a man over a gay dating site, scheduled an all-night “photo session”, and in a drug-fueled frenzy, Boy George handcuffed the guy to a radiator and beat him with a chain. Makes you wonder what he might have actually meant by his song “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?”. Sigh.
Mercury was at its superior conjunction with the Sun shortly after he was arrested, which becomes relevant later at the start of his trial. Another point of interest is the fact that Neptune was in opposition to his natal Mars, and still is currently. He seems to be experiencing the transit in a very specific way, because he was born with Mars parallel to Neptune across the equinoxes (contra-antiscia) with only 14 arc minutes of orb. Some consider this to be the equivalent of an opposition. So transiting Neptune opposing his Mars would in essence a recurrence or realization of the relationship between Mars and Neptune at his birth.
Aries 12th House Annual Profection, June 14th 2008 – June 14th 2009
Boy George entered his 12th house Aries annual profection on his last solar return in June 2008. His trial 
began on November 28th, 2008, shortly after a Mercury superior conjunction, just like the day he was arrested. A week later on December 5th, 2008, he was judged guilty. This was the day that Sun and Mars perfected a conjunction in Sagittarius, beginning a new 2 year cycle of Mars. Today came his sentence, as Mars is emerging from the beams of the Sun, and Mercury is retrograde.
So we can see how this logically followed from the events around the Sun-Mars and Sun-Mercury conjunctions, his trial. Also notice that his Sun in Gemini is essentially being squared by the current Saturn-Uranus opposition, much like other people who have hit hard times recently, like Rod Blagojevich.
Other Aries 12th House Profection Years
It turns out that Boy George has had similar themes of legal trouble and self-undoing come up during previous Aries 12th House profections, as we might expect. His last one was from June 1996 to June 1997. On April 21st, 1997, musician Kirk Brandon sued Boy George for malicious falsehood over George’s claims in his autobiography that they had had a sexual relationship. That happened at the tail end of a Mars retrograde period, and Mars stationed direct just 5 days later. It was also during a Mercury retrograde.
12 years before that, in 1985, at the height of popularity of his band Culture Club, drugs began to take a toll. This would eventually lead to his arrest in July of 1986 (in the middle of a Mars retrograde period, and a Mercury retrograde period).
So, watch out for those 12th house profections if its ruled by Mars or Saturn (Sagittarius, Aquarius, Pisces and Taurus ascendants at the ages of 11, 23, 35, 47, 59, 71, etc.)! Seems like when the ruler goes retrograde or conjoins the Sun, bad times ensue!
