Big Night for Kate Winslet at the Golden Globes

Posted by Patrick Watson on January 12, 2009 at 5:17 amNo Comments Yet

Kate Winslet won Best Actress for her role in “Revolutionary Road” AND Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Reader” at the Golden Globes last night! She’s made a ton of new admirers- and probably some new enemies as well. And are the Oscars next?

Kate Winslet was born on October 5th, 1975 at 7:15 am in Reading, England. Source. You can see in red, she was born at a New Moon in Libra, and in blue, you can see she was born with retrograde Mercury opposite retrograde Jupiter.  These two configurations related in an intimate way with the transits she just experienced for her spectacular night, except they’re all reversed.

The night before the Golden Globes, there was a Full Moon in Cancer. This would be particularly relevant for Kate because she was born at the opposite point of the lunation cycle, the New Moon. But wait a second, don’t Full Moons happen every month? Yes, but what made this one special is that it was exactly square her natal Mercury-Jupiter opposition, outlined in red. The Moon was full in her 10th, close to her Midheaven. This indicated the public recognition she was about to receive for these awards.

Mercury had just stationed retrograde, backing into a conjunction with Jupiter, which was 9 degrees away from a conjunction with the Sun. This is the exact opposite of her natal configuration, retrograde Mercury opposite Jupiter, 9 degrees away from an opposition with the Sun.

The other unmistakable transit she had that night was Jupiter opposing Saturn, which had perfected not even 4 hours before the awards ceremony began! While no one believes that Winslet acts just to receive awards, for some one who has been nominated several bajillion times for a Golden Globe or an Oscar but never won, you’d have to think if she’s wondering if she’d ever actually start winning some of these awards. Jupiter opposing her Saturn would indicate some great honor or blessing (Jupiter) bestowed upon her work (Saturn), which, you know, describes it pretty perfectly.

And as is the case with a lot of people these days, she was born at the Saturn-Uranus square, and what aspect is happening between those two planets right now? The opposition! You can see here how all the planets function together like different hands on a clock, the outer planetary cycles for more general periods of time and inner planetary cycles for more specific periods of time. But anways, the night wasn’t just about her, go check out the other winners here and see what was happening to them. Might as well check their transits for the Academy Awards just out of curiosity…

Congratulations to Kate Winslet!
