Jennifer Love Hewitt’s engagement to Ross McCall is off! Men of the world rejoice! No but seriously we feel bad for both of them. When life throws you a curveball, don’t get down, look up to the sky and figure out what was going on!

We can see that Ross’^[1] Sun in Capricorn is conjunct Jennifer’s^[2]  Venus in Capricorn, showing affection, romance, shared aesthetic and cultural values. They first met while filming an episode of the Ghost Whisperer. The episode aired on January 6th, 2006^[3] , and it was in this time frame that they started dating. Conveniently enough, Venus was retrograde in Capricorn at that time, imitating their natal synastry when it reached the inferior conjunction. Venus brought them together. Mars would tear them apart.

Ross has Mars in Gemini opposing Venus and Neptune in Sagittarius, a dynamic romantic/sexual configuration influenced by fantasy and imagination for good or for ill. This was square Jennifer’s Saturn, which could cause problems under the right transits. He was born 7 days before Mars stationed direct, when Mars went retrograde from Cancer to Gemini, linking him to the Mars retrograde cycles. As a complement to that, Jennifer was born a little while after a Sun-Mars conjunction. They got engaged sometime between November 19th-25th, 2007^[4] . Mars was back at the same part of its cycle as it was at the time that Ross was born, going retrograde from Cancer to Gemini. It had just stationed retrograde in Cancer on November 15th, 2007, just days before they got engaged. Mars is destructive though, and so the engagement would prove ill-fated.

We only know that they broke up over the holidays, so they must have been having problems in December 2008, and it was in this time that there was a Sun-Mars conjunction in Sagittarius, the first one to happen since they got engaged at the Mars retrograde station in 2007, completing the cycle as it were. The Sun-Mars conjunction just happened to occur on Ross’s Venus-Neptune conjunction opposite his Mars, and square JLH’s Saturn, activating this more destructive pattern in their synastry. And so they split up over the holidays, and was announced soon after. It’s worth noting that Mars was still in its post-retrograde shadow period when they first met and started dating.

Will Jennifer ever find lasting romance? Maybe so. Jennifer was born with Venus exactly square Pluto. This would tend to create intense, transformative experiences in love. She may have experienced that in a very general way with certain people, but when Pluto reaches her Venus itself in 2016-2018, she would experience this in a very specific way. She will likely be in other relationships in the meantime, but a truly deep love may await her in those times.
